Me Gusta is a beat making, sound twisting duo located in San Jose, California.

TIME TRAVELLING

The first [top] is a nice little chill out vibe track called “$arah” with some sick sample play and a downright grimey transition into a ratchet beat groove that sounds like Dilla did the Dragonball Z fusion technique with Lex Luger. Yes, I mentioned ratchet, Dilla, and DBZ in the same sentence. Just listen and you’ll know what I mean.

The second track [bottom] is a dope classic/jazz piano hip hop joint that sounds super crisp. The drums, keys, and everything else is on point.  Nujabes would be proud.

Tokeil by Jainai Jeffries

Jainai is an incredibly talented artist from the greater Los Angeles area whose concept art and illustrations burst at the seams with creativity and inspiration. Above is a piece she did showcasing her amazing skills as a character artist. The attention to detail in the colors and pretty much everything else about it made me fall in love with it.

Above is an illustration I stumbled on around 2008 by nobeak. (Check out his other work too, definitely worth it.). At the time it was one of the cleanest and boldest black and white illustrations I’d seen and I think it’s safe to say it looks just as ill as it did back then.
